Conference Structure

The program consists of five sessions.

Friday (4:00 p.m.–8:00 p.m.)
Theoretical classes held at the AMA Film Academy. An introduction to the technological and artistic aspects related to the theme of the session, as well as preparation for the practical portion.

Saturday–Sunday (10:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.)
Hands-on workshops in the form of cinematography masterclasses held in professional production facilities. Participants work on a film set using professional cinematography equipment.

Program

Convention I

ARRI Cameras and Modern Cinematography

A masterclass on modern camera and optical systems.

Course Content:

• ARRI camera systems
• modern lens sets, Black Win Tribe 7, Arri Signature Prime, Leica.
• Selecting Camera Equipment for a Film Project
• Camera and image styling tests

Classes are held at Non Stop Film Service Studio using rental equipment.

Convention II

Analog Film – 35 mm Film and Anamorphic Lenses

Production of a short film using analog technology.

Course Content:

• Working with a 35 mm film camera
• anamorphic optics
• image composition in Cinemascope format
• Work Organization in Analog Production

The process also includes:

• developing film at a photo lab
• scanning a negative
• digital material processing

The classes are conducted in collaboration with the Documentary and Feature Film Studio.

Convention III

Outdoor Lighting and Night Photography

Classes focused on operating large lighting fixtures.

Course Content:

• outdoor stage lighting
• High-power HMI lamps, large LED fixtures
• Collaboration between the camera operator and the gaffer
• Developing a lighting plan for night scenes
• Filming night scenes using SFX atmospheric effects (fog, wind, snow)
• Filmed with Sony Venice cameras

Classes are held at Non Stop Film Service Studio / Rental and the Lighting Rental Department

Convention IV

Fiction work in the studio

A conference on lighting and camera movement in narrative scenes.

Course Content:

• Creating Dramatic Effect Through Lighting Design
• working in low-light conditions
• LED lighting, various units
• evening and nighttime effects in the studio
• the balance of light between the outdoors and indoors
• Camera movement in a narrative scene, use of the Magnum Dolly and tracking shots
• Steadicam and Ronin gimbal, Arri Maxima in film production

Classes are held at the AMA Film Academy Studio.

Convention V

Pre-production and post-production of the film

Classes focused on the process of preparing a painting and bringing it to completion.

Course Content:

• development of the project’s visual concept
• Collaboration between the operator and the post-production department
• color grading
• Integration of footage with VFX effects
• The use of AI tools in post-production

Classes are held at DI Factory and AMA Postproduction.

Classes are conducted using ARRI and SONY camera systems, as well as modern film lenses used in feature film and TV series productions.

Shooting on 35 mm film
The program includes work with a film camera and anamorphic optics in the Cinemascope format along with the full laboratory process and digitization of the material.

Who is this course for?

This course is intended for:

• camera operators and camera assistants
• directors working on feature or documentary projects

• graduates of film and art schools
• intermediate-level filmmakers interested in cinematography

To participate, you must have at least an intermediate level of proficiency in working with film footage.

Diploma

To complete the course, participants must complete an individual cinematography assignment that demonstrates their technical and practical skills.

This assignment is graded during the final exam.

Working with Professional Film Equipment
Participants work with professional camera systems from ARRI and SONY, modern film lenses, and a full range of film set infrastructure.

Access to professional production facilities
Classes are held at industry-specific facilities used in film production, including the Non Stop Film Service studios, the Documentary and Feature Film Studio, DI Factory, and the AMA Film Academy studio.

Experience with Analog Imaging
The program includes shooting on 35 mm film using anamorphic lenses, as well as an introduction to the lab process and the digitization of the footage.

The masterclasses are led by active cinematographers who work on major, well-known feature films, TV series, and documentaries.

Filming scenes on set
Practical classes include work in the studio and on location, both day and night, as well as the production of narrative scenes and technical tests.
