He writes on his blog: “I am a film director, screenwriter, and writer.
Three different words for the same thing: storytelling. So if I had to use one word that best describes what I do, I’d say I’m a STORYTELLER. Whether I’m telling a story through a feature film, a TV series, or simply a book, it’s the same fascinating work. One of the oldest and most important professions in the world—the storyteller.”

He graduated from the Radio Technology Technical School in Dzierżoniów and was admitted to the University of Wrocław to study Cultural Studies. After defending his master’s thesis and receiving the rector’s award for academic achievement, he was admitted to the Film Directing program at the Faculty of Radio and Television at the University of Silesia, from which he graduated in 1992. Wereśniak gained popularity following the success of *Kiler*, for which he wrote the screenplay. He has since worked on numerous major projects, including writing the screenplay for *Pan Tadeusz*, directed by Andrzej Wajda. In 2000, Piotr Wereśniak made his directorial debut with the romantic comedy *Zakochani*. He has also directed feature films such as “Stacja,” “Zróbmy sobie wnuka,” and “Nie kłam kochanie.” He has written screenplays for and directed television series, including “Na dobre i na złe,” “M jak miłość,” “Kryminalni,” and “Agentki.” Piotr Wereśniak is also the author of two novels—“Zabili mnie we wtorek,” a thriller, and “Nie szukaj mnie.”

Awards:
1999 – Grand Prize (“Hartley-Merrill Prize”) for the screenplay “Stacja” in the International Film Screenplay Competition.
2001 – Cierlicko (Cierlicko Film Summer) Audience Award for the film “Zakochani.”
2004 – Lubomierz (Comedy Film Festival) Golden Grenade for the film “Zróbmy sobie wnuka.” Also in Lubomierz, for the same film, he was awarded the Bronze Sickle—the third prize in the competition for the best comedies of the decade.
2008 – The Golden Telekamera Award from the weekly magazine “Teletydzień” for the TV series “Kryminalni.”
2009 – Nomination for the Wielki Kalibru Award for best thriller novel of 2008. For the book “They Killed Me on Tuesday.”
