Sylwester Piechura

Lecturer Profile

Actor, screenwriter, and creative producer. A graduate of the Acting Department at the Stanisław Wyspiański Academy of Theater Arts in Kraków and the Cultural Management program at the Institute of Culture of the Jagiellonian University in Kraków. Erasmus+ scholarship recipient at the Ringlokschuppen Theater in Mülheim an der Ruhr, Germany. As an actor, he collaborates with leading theaters in Poland, creating significant and award-winning productions.

Known for such films as *80 Million*, *Heart of Love*, *Marygoround*, *Joika *, and *House of the Chosen*.His debut feature film screenplay, *Marygoround*, was developed as part of the Film Spring Open workshop [2017] and the European Creative Europe LIM Less is More development workshop [2018]. That same year, the completed screenplay for *Marygoround* won the award for Best Screenplay in the “Three Crowns” screenwriters’ competition [2018]. It also won the award for the most promising pitch at HAF—the Hong Kong Asia Film Financing Forum [2019] and was presented at the Cannes Film Festival as part of HAF goes to Cannes [2019], the New Horizons International Film Festival: Polish Days – Works in Progress [2018], at Polish Days – Finished Films [2019], and at Meeting Point Vilnius [2019]. The film won the following awards at festivals: Fantasia Film Festival in Canada [Grand Prix and Special Mention at New Flesh 2020], Gijón International Film Festival in Spain [Grand Prix 2020], Lund International Fantastic Film Festival in Sweden [Honorable Mention 2020], OFF Camera Film Festival in Poland [Audience Award 2020], “Wisła” Polish Film Festival in Moscow [3rd Prize 2021], “Młodzi i Film” Film Debut Festival in Poland [Women Filmmakers Association Award, Player.pl Platform Award, and Art House Cinema Network Award 2021]. He works as a screenplay consultant, screenwriter, and co-writer for streaming platforms and production companies in Poland, Switzerland, and Germany.
