Zbigniew Modej

Lecturer Profile

Film stuntman, stunt coordinator, action director. Member of the Polish Film Academy and the Polish Filmmakers Association. From 1973 to 1981, he competed for the judo teams at AZS UW and AZS AWF. He later performed with the Bonanza Equestrian Stunt Troupe. In 1987, he set a record in the free jump over cardboard boxes. He has been a film stuntman since 1979.

As a stuntman, he has worked with the world’s top stunt coordinators, including Vic Armstrong, Daniel Verite, and Richard Graydon. Zbigniew Modej has designed and executed special effects, including those related to stunt work, as well as specialized, unconventional mounting systems for filming equipment on all types of vehicles and safe mobile structures for vehicles.
He has worked on approximately 400 feature films, TV series, and television productions, including *Pirates* and *The Pianist*, directed by Roman Polanski; *Pornografia* and *Jasminum*, directed by Jan Jakub Kolski; “In Darkness” by Agnieszka Holland, “1920: The Battle of Warsaw” by Jerzy Hoffman, “Dogs 3: In the Name of Principles” by Władysław Pasikowski, “Imago” by Olga Chajdas, “The Polish Teacher” by Radosław Piwowarski, “Fuks 2” by Maciej Dutkiewicz, and “Brother” by Maciej Sobieszczański.

In 2004, he received the AXN and HBO “Adrenalina 2004 Top 10” Special Award for his lifetime achievements.
