Lecturer Profile

A multi-award-winning cinematographer of feature films and documentaries, and a director. Ph.D. in Film Arts. Lecturer at the Faculty of Radio, Film, and Television at the University of Silesia in Katowice, head of the Department of Cinematography. A cinematographer with exceptional visual expressiveness who participates in film productions based on visual storytelling.

A graduate of the Cinematography Department at the PWSFTViT in Łódź. Shortly after graduating from the Łódź Film School, he began working in television and has remained in the field ever since; he has served as director of photography for approximately thirty Television Theater productions. The most significant part of his body of work consists of films made in collaboration with Lech Majewski—“The Room of the Does” (1997), “The Little Soldier” (1999), *Angelus* (2001), *The Mill on the Cross* (2010); with Jerzy Skolimowski—*Four Nights with Anna* (2008) and *Essential Killing* (2010); and with Piotr Dumała—*The Forest* (2009)—which have earned him numerous prestigious awards and critical acclaim. He is the director of documentary films depicting Upper Silesia from various perspectives, including both creative works—such as *Bluesmen: A Ballad About Jan “Kyks” Skrzek* (1999), as well as those of a documentary nature—*Corpus Christi* (2005) belongs to this latter category.
Winner of, among others, the Polish Film Award “The Eagle” for cinematography in the film *Four Nights with Anna*, the cinematography award at the Gdynia Polish Feature Film Festival for *Essential Killing* and the Czech Lion (awarded by the Czech Academy of Film and Television Arts) for cinematography in David Ondříček’s “Ve stinu” (2012).
