Lecturer Profile

Dancer, choreographer, dramaturg. He explores the broad field of theater and dance in combination with music and the visual arts. Over the past 18 years, he has collaborated with numerous dance theaters: Tanz Hotel Wien, Tanz Atelier Wien, Smafu Compagnie, Osez Project Canada, FeinSinn Company Wien, and Blue Elephant Company Düsseldorf. He also creates choreography and stage movement for drama theaters in Poland and abroad. He leads body awareness workshops for professional theater actors. He is a recipient of a scholarship from the Minister of Culture and National Heritage and the Marshal of the Pomeranian Voivodeship, as well as a multiple recipient of the City of Gdańsk’s cultural scholarship and a scholarship from the Japanese government.

He has been associated with the Dada von Bzdülöw Theater since 1994. As a choreographer, dancer, and dramaturg, he has created 15 original productions, collaborating with artists from around the world. Notable examples include *Kąpielec* in collaboration with Milena Rewińska (2001, Baltic Dance University) and *Itcolt* in collaboration with Shaula Cambazzu and Jan Rzwersky (Marni Theater, Brussels, 2010/2011). In 2005, he was a fellow of the Artist in Residence/Akiyoshi Art Village Yamaguchi program in Japan. This is a Japanese government project that facilitates research, workshops, and the production of a performance. At the end of his residency, Szatarski created the semi-theatrical performance *Jakub* ( in collaboration with the Mordy ensemble), which was staged in Poland and Japan.
In addition, the artist creates choreography and stage movement for drama theaters in Poland and abroad, with over twenty works in this field to his credit. It is worth mentioning at least a few of them: John Webster’s *The Duchess of D’Amalfi*, directed by Grzegorz Wiśniewski (Teatr Wybrzeże in Gdańsk, 2006), *The Tin Drum*, based on the novel by Günter Grass and directed by Adam Nalepa (Wybrzeże Theater in Gdańsk, 2007), and *The Maids of Wilko*, based on the short story by Jarosław Iwaszkiewicz and directed by Krzysztof Rekowski (Polski Theater in Poznań, 2009). In addition, he worked at drama theaters in Gdynia, Warsaw, Toruń, Białystok, Wałbrzych, Kalisz, and Opole.
